Do I need a green screen to remove a video background?
Not anymore. AI background removal detects the subject in ordinary footage — no green fabric, no lighting rig — and cuts them out. In EseCut this runs in the browser: remove the background from video frames or images, then place the subject over any new background, all on the free plan. For talking-head content, thumbnails, and product shots, AI removal has effectively replaced the green screen.
Where a real green screen still wins: fast, complex motion (hair whipping, hands crossing the face), semi-transparent objects, and long broadcast-quality composites, where a keyed screen still gives cleaner edges. For everyday creator work, you don't need one.
