What resolution should I use for Instagram?
Reels and Stories: 1080×1920 (9:16). Feed posts: 1080×1350 (4:5) shows largest; 1080×1080 square also works. Instagram compresses everything on upload, so exporting far above these targets doesn't survive processing — a clean 1080p export at the right aspect ratio is the sweet spot.
What actually hurts quality on Instagram: re-compressing (exporting from one app, editing in another, exporting again), wrong aspect ratios that get auto-cropped, and watermarked exports from other platforms, which Instagram may down-rank. Edit once, export 9:16 at 1080p, upload that file directly.
